About Paul

ABOUT PAUL

"We are wired to do hard things. We can do hard things much better when we remember this: We are wired for connection." - Jody Carrington

"If you've met Paul (or been fortunate to be one of his clients), you'll know that Paul tries to listen more than he talks. He's listening not just to what you say, but the things you're not saying. What Paul is really trying to hear is the heart of it all. He also wants you to listen; pay close attention to your sensations and thoughts so that you can feel present and connected and in your body in a real way, even in times of considerable pain and discomfort. At this deeper level of connection, he wants you to notice and instead of run from it, he wants you to sit with the hard feelings and be curious about them, learn from them, accept them, to grow, to evolve through them, to become resilient. You can do hard things, but you don't have to do them by yourself."- Jenn Crebas, Psychological Assistant, Connections Psychological Services

Who is Paul?

My mom says I looked directly into her eyes with an unusual curiousity right from the first days of my life.  I have been deeply curious about people ever since.  As the son of a  Pastor I learned to visit and to listen. As a middle child with three siblings I learned negotiation skills.

In 2018 I retired from 30 years  assisting children and families as a Teacher, Counsellor and Psychologist. During this same year I co-founded Connections Psychological Services. I began  seeing mostly adults  and developed an integrated system of therapy for dealing with anxiety, depression and trauma.

Most importantly I am married to Marie (38 years!), I have two wonderful daughters: Sarah and Maia, I have a great son-in-law Grayson, and I have a terrific and dynamic"granddogger" Clover.

I am excited as I begin a new practice on my own in Sherwood Park, a city I have lived in for more than 20 years now.
